What is Reiki?

Reiki was developed in Japan by a Buddhist monk named Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 19th century. Dr. Usui developed Reiki into its current system. The Reiki practitioner serves as a vessel that supplies healing energies where they are needed. Reiki energies flow out of the practitioner’s body through the palms of the hands while the Reiki practitioner is touching the client’s body. The Universal Life Force energy (Reiki energy) is a smart energy. It automatically flows to where the imbalances are in the body of the client. Reiki addresses physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual imbalances.

What a Reiki Session is Like: Before the Reiki/IET session begins I will discuss with you what will happen over the hour that you are on my table. I will discuss with you if there are any issues in your life (physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual) that you would like me to work on during the session. The room lighting is pleasantly soft and there is soothing music to make the experience relaxing. Other than your shoes you will be fully clothed while on the table.Using a gentle, therapeutic, touch I will direct healing energy to specific areas of your body to release stress, clear energy blocks and promote healing. As I work on you, you may feel energy flowing through you. My hands may feel hot or cold. You body may feel cold as negative energy is releasing from you. I have blankets if you start to feel cold. You may feel nothing during the session. That’s ok. Healing without feeling is not uncommon. After the hour I will have you sit up so that I can ground you. With the session over you may want to discuss any feelings you might have had during the session. Also, I will tell you if I had any insights during the hour.
